Three Finalists Chosen for ABC’s Young Professional of the Year Award

Chris Beckering, Greg Schniegenberg and Shon Smith all come from different states, work for different companies, and represent different roles in the construction industry, but on Nov. 11, they will all have one thing in common. During ABC’s Future Leaders Awards Ceremony, Chris, Greg and Shon will stand on stage in San Diego as a finalist for the first-annual ABC Young Professional of the Year award.

The Young Professional of the Year Award was created in 2015 to honor and acknowledge the next generation of leaders in the construction industry. The award takes into account the nominee’s participation in ABC at a local and national level, their dedication to growing the industry and their achievements in work and in the community.

Out of 108 nominations from more than 80 different companies, the following three young professionals were chosen by a judging panel to represent the top emerging leaders in the association.

Chris Beckering—Grand Rapids, Michigan
Pioneer Construction; vice president of strategic business operations
ABC Western Michigan Chapter

Greg Schniegenberg—Oakland, California
Helix Electric Inc., vice president
ABC Northern California Chapter

Shon Smith—Ames, Iowa
ACI Mechanical, prefabrication manager
ABC Iowa Chapter

Each of the finalists have what it takes to earn the title of the Young Professional of the Year, but only one of them will walk away with the title of Young Professional of the Year and a $1,000 cash prize.
